2n2222 Datasheet and History

Since Motorola launched the 2N2222 in 1962 it has become known as the 'universal transistor' - the most successful and widely used transistor in history.  Commonly referred to as the 'quad two' transistor, and also known as the PN2222, it is a small, common NPN BJT transistor used for general purpose low-power amplifying or switching applications. It is designed for low to medium current, low power, medium voltage, and can operate at moderately high speeds.  Billions of 2N2222 have been manufactured and are still in high volume production today.

Good project. If you need more information on the 2n2222 with datasheets, circuit schematic, pinouts, how much it costs and where to get some samples, I created a page just for it. http://datasheetreference.com/2n2222-datasheet.html.
