McKinsey and Co released their report on "How Companies Are Marketing Online" based on surveys of 410 marketing executives.   In the study they found that companies see online marketing as an important and effective component of their marketing strategy.   However, they are not actually executing with the same strength of conviction.

The report says "Today a third of the companies that advertise online are already spending more than 10 percent of their advertising budgets there.  Three years from now, twice as many respondents believe they will be spending at least that much online, and 11 percent say they will be spending the majority of their budgets online."

The finding show that key barrier inside of the companies are:

• Insufficient metrics to measure impact
• Insufficient capabilities to handle internally
• Hard time convincing management

61 Billion Searches in September - Asia Booms

Comscore announced their latest tally of search activity around the globe (press release). Counting 61B searches and the top search engines reveals some interesting things that weigh on the world of electronic components.

The big news here is that Baidu.com (China) and NHN's Naver.com (Korea) scored in the top 5 engines. Baidu beat Microsoft's MSN Live.  Additionally, on a global basis Asia-Pac was the top searching region of the world.

Too bad the only announced the top 10, SupplyFrame didn't get to rank quite that high this month.  Stay tuned!
